Taylor Porter MSP Practice Leader Barrye Miyagi Presents Legal & Policy Update at LASIE Forum

Taylor Porter Partner and MSP Practice Leader Barrye Miyagi co-presented on “Medicare Secondary Payer Legal & Policy Update” at the 2021 Louisiana Association of Self-Insured Employers (LASIE) Legislative Recap and Open Forum, held July 14, 2021, at the Baton Rouge Marriott. Miyagi co-presented with Christine Melancon, director of regulatory compliance at CLARA Analytics.

The annual LASIE Legislative Recap and Open Forum reviews legislative changes and other issues affecting self-insurers. The Forum included six hours of continuing education credits. LASIE was formed in 1991 to promote and protect the right of businesses to self-insure. The organization serves as a voice at the state level on issues affecting self-insurers and workers’ compensation, and acts as a statewide information service and educational forum for Louisiana employers.

Miyagi is a Certified Medicare Secondary Payer Fellow (CMSP-F), administered by the Louisiana Association of Self-Insured Employers (LASIE), and she is the practice group leader of Taylor Porter’s Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) and MMSEA (Section 111) Compliance group. Miyagi counsels businesses on best practices for compliance with the MSP. She has a long history of litigating complex toxic tort cases and resolves MSP issues in toxic tort and other types of cases.
